Today we went to a property near Hawken which was a nice change because we did not have to drive as far. We were given permission to hunt on this property which was near Sherman and River road. Many people have said that seen a bunch of turkeys in this area, so we went into the hunt with high hopes. The terrain of this property was interesting because of its hilly nature we were very careful on the location we chose so that only one of our shooting paths would be downhill. We both decided that if we were going to take a shot at that path we would have to guarantee a hit otherwise we would not shoot. After we set up, we got into the blind and began to freeze even though we were both wearing extra clothing. After a few hours we had lost feeling in our toes and were wishing we had worn wool socks but there was nothing we could do about it now. Even though we were not feeling great we remained in the blind calling for turkeys the whole day, but we saw nothing. This was not really a surprise to my uncle, a turkey hunter who I talked to later in the night, because turkeys get to be move active as the weather warms and they do not do much when the weather is cold.
