Day 5
Over the past two days we accomplished a lot. We watched more hunting videos and picked up our turkey calls. We have learned how to do four different calls including: the yelp, cluck, purr and cutting. It has been very effective for us to watch Born to Hunt and mimic the calls that are made in the movie. Seeing the turkey calls used in the field, throughout several different hunts has taught us when to use each call. We continued practicing with the calls whenever we have the opportunity, as we understand how important it will be when we are out in the field.
Bow practice has also continued. We have dialed in the scope and are very efficient up to twenty yards away from our target. Our arrow pattern is pretty tight at ten yards, and a little bit larger at twenty yards. This is expected with the increase of range, as we are not professional bow shooters. We even backed up to thirty yards to test our accuracy and we were able to hit our target from that range. Thirty yards is out of our range to take a turkey in the field but it was fun to shoot from that range.
