Day One Photography
Prior to the first day of project, I was unsure of what photography knowledge I would gain through my time spent learning under Lauren Pacini. However, after the first day, I knew I would gain a plethora of knowledge. The first day began with me and Ryan writing a proposal to Lauren of what we wanted to learn. We brainstormed a list of basic photographical skills and photoshop skills that we desired to learn. We then headed over to Starbucks and met with Lauren. We began by proposing our list of desired traits to learn, which he very quickly expanded upon. He taught us about aperture and shutter speed, and the differences and similarities between the two. I entered the day having no idea what either one was and by the afternoon I was out taking pictures adjusting both features to enhance my photos. Lauren's knowledge of photography is not only vast, but very well explained. Every idea he taught us was coherent and easy to comprehend. The most valuable piece I took apart from aperture and shutter speed was the rule of thirds. I have learned the rule of thirds previously in an art class, however I never truly understood it until Lauren explained it to me. A photographer must grasp the viewer by moving their eye to one of the four powerpoints on a photo. I left the first day thirsty for more photography knowledge from this great man.
