No Testosterone Here: Day Three at Metheny Weir

The street where I park each morning. I thought it looked rather pretty after the hail storm.

I strolled into Metheny Weir this morning and was greeted by not the usual two faces of Sue and Kim, but by a laughing group of six. Kim stood behind the paint counter, Sue sat next to Katrina, an artist who uses the Annie Sloan method and sells her products in the front of the shop, both drinking their coffee in blue painted chairs, a young woman with bangs breastfed a baby girl on the table, and a pregnant woman knelt on the ground to paint a shelf of a pink dresser.

Didn’t I tell you this was like a lifestyle blog, filled with DIY and young mothers who always seem to be having fun?

I learned that the woman (Ashley) and baby (Valerie) came to the studio two to three times a week to help paint for customers. The other woman, Gabe, was trying to finish her dresser before her baby’s due date in July.

All seven of us worked on separate pieces of furniture, all while listening to John Mayer and gabbing about the best recipes for spiked lemonade (I did not participate in this conversation, I assure you).

Today I worked on turning a horribly hideous 1980s dresser into a shabby chic blue one. I apologize that I did not get a picture of it, but you can kind of see the drawers in the right hand corner.
