Stephen had an AP review in the morning so after meeting together, we headed to the woods. After spending last week in the city taking pictures of architecture, we wanted to explore taking pictures in nature. There are a lot of similarities between the two concepts like composition and framing but there are also many aspects that change and must be considered. Lighting in nature pictures is hard to control because if the sunlight is too bright, the picture is ruined. Taking this into account, we headed to Squire's castle to photograph the area. We chose this location because it blended architecture with nature so we could experiment with both. We also knew with our photoshop skills we could really enhance the old and rustic look of the building. After photographing this location, we wanted to get pictures of the Chagrin River. We drove to the river and tried to get solid landscapes of the river. Unfortunately, the lighting was too bright and the river wasn't very high so we couldn't get any good shots. Overall, we learned the intricacies of shooting in nature and broadened our scope so now we have a more balanced photography skill-set. Here is an example of a shot we got of the castle itself.
